16 Apr The Plight of Abrego Garcia
In an excerpt from the New York Times, “By the government’s own admission, it deported Abrego Garcia by accident.”
Then in a 9-0 unsigned opinion, most likely written by Chief Justice John Roberts, the Supreme Court nominally agreed with Judge Xinis, who wrote that “there were no legal grounds whatsoever for [Abrego Garcia’s] arrest, detention, or removal … Rather, his detention appears wholly lawless.”
Yet all the Supreme Court could come up with was “facilitate” Mr. Garcia’s release. What the heck does that mean?
Query would the Honorable Justice Roberts or any of the Justices adopt the same language had the victim been their family member. I think not.
Yet, Mr. Trump without being asked to “facilitate” her release, secured the release of Ksenia Karelina from Russia in an overnight prisoner exchange. Go figure.
So are we now in an autocracy in which absolute power is held by the head of state, Mr. Trump.
Just a thought as I am the Dumb Guy.
