Trump seeks to “Control History and the Press”

In the past months, our country has seen a string of controversial actions.  Below are a few:

  • According to the NY Times, Mr. Trump is suing Rupert Murdoch for Libel because the newspaper published an article about an inappropriate birthday card with a suggestive drawing.
  • On May 1, 2025, Mr. Trump signed an executive order to defund NPR and PBS as Mr. Trump felt they were biased.
  • On July 24, 2025, Mr. Trump cancelled $1.1 Billion in funding for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.
  • The Bureau of Labor Statistics, a non-partisan government agency, publishes statistics about the state of the US economy. On August 1, 2025, Mr. Trump fired, Erika McEntarfer, the Commissioner of the Bureau of Labor Statistics because the job report was not acceptable.

In attempting to down play the Trump Tariff Tax:

  • Trump called Amazon’s former CEO Jeff Bezos to complain about the Company informing its members and being “transparent” on pending price increases due to Tariffs.
  • On April 23, 2025, Trump threatened Walmart against raising prices to offset tariffs suggesting Walmart “eat the Tariffs”.

Are these directives representative of a “free” market economy?

With his vast expertise in the construction arena, little did we know that Mr. Trump is also a painter, with White-washing his specialty!

  • On January 30, 2025, the Department of Justice ordered “the removal of the data base detailing criminal charges and convictions related to the January 6th attach on the US Capitol” according to Citizens for Ethics, Org.

At first glance, these might seem like Mr. Trump is exercising executive power, but when these actions appear in the in the context of “controlling information”, “suppressing unfavorable voices” or “rewrite history”, we cannot help but be vigilant and act.

This sounds eerily familiar to the past.

According to the Holocaust encyclopedia: “During the first weeks of 1933, the Nazi regime deployed the radio, press, and newsreels to stoke fears of a pending “Communist uprising,” then channeled popular anxieties into political measures that eradicated civil liberties and democracy. SA (Storm Troopers) and members of the Nazi elite paramilitary formation, the SS, took to the streets to brutalize or arrest political opponents and incarcerate them in hastily established detention centers and concentration camps. Nazi thugs broke into opposing political party offices, destroying printing presses and newspapers.”

Furthermore, it went on to say “The Propaganda Ministry aimed further to control the content of news and editorial pages through directives distributed in daily conferences in Berlin and transmitted via the Nazi Party propaganda offices to regional or local papers. Detailed guidelines stated what stories could or could not be reported and how to report the news. “

For a moment let’s swap out a few words of the foregoing and it reads as follows: The White House aimed further to control the content of news and editorial pages through directives distributed in daily conferences in Washington DC and transmitted via the Trump Administration and official offices to regional or local papers. Detailed guidelines stated what stories could or could not be reported and how to report the news.

All this in ongoing efforts by Mr. Trump to control information and rewrite history.

Pretty scary stuff but it is happening!!
